The 1st place (Southwest) San Antonio Spurs (40-8) will look to rebound from a loss tonight in NBA odds when they travel to take on the 1st place (Pacific) Los Angeles Lakers (34-15) on Thursday evening at 10:30pm EST when they battle from STAPLES Center for the game that can be seen live on TNT or FOX WEST. The Spurs vs Lakers will tip-off following the Heat vs Magic game that is scheduled to start at 8:00pm EST and can also be seen live on TNT. Online sportsbooks have opened with the Lakers -3.5 home favorites in NBA picks vs the Spurs with an over/under total of 194.

NBA odds at sportsbooks also favor Los Angeles at home -160 for tonight’s game vs San Antonio +140 in money line picks. The Spurs managed to win three straight games over Golden State, Utah and Houston with two of the three victories being on the road. San Antonio started a nine game road trip on Tuesday night and fell miserably at the Portland Trail Blazers 86-99. The Spurs lost outright vs Portland as 5-point betting favorites on the road to go 28-18-2 ATS for the season. In the last Spurs vs Lakers match-up on December 28th, San Antonio held Kobe Bryant to only 8-27 from the floor and Pau Gasol to 9-points. The Spurs could pull off the upset with 3.5-points but they are just 1-7 in NBA picks when playing the Lakers at Staples Center.

Los Angeles comes into Thursday’s match-up on TNT vs the Spurs fresh off a 114-106 overtime win at home vs the Houston Rockets on Tuesday. It was a welcomed win for the men in gold after losing two straight games to Sacramento and Boston. The Lakers pulled of the 8-point win straight up in overtime but once again couldn’t cover the spread in NBA picks as 8.5-point betting favorites to go 21-28 ATS for the season. Tonight’s game will be the last of a five game home stretch as the Lakers will be heading out for a seven game road trip on Saturday. That being said, LA could actually cover the spread tonight having gone 8-2 for their last 10 at STAPLES Center.

NBA Picks: Los Angeles Lakers -3.5
