Man City news: Pep Guardiola speaks out on Yaya Toure racism claims

A recent interview with France Football magazine saw Yaya Toure make claims that Pep Guardiola has a problem with footballers of African descent.

Toure fell out of favour under Guardiola last season, making just one Premier League start all campaign as City marched to the title in record-breaking fashion.

Speaking to TV3 (h/t Fay), the City boss denied the suggestions made by the Ivory Coast global.

"He never told me face to face".

Similar success followed at Bayern Munich before the 47-year-old guided Manchester City to Premier League and EFL Cup glory this term. We have had two years, 365 + 365 (days) to say it - and we can talk.

The Manchester City midfielder took issue with his manager in some strong comments made earlier this week. He'll never admit it (not liking Africans).

Toure made 48 appearances under Guardiola at City, but has been released by the club after eight years at the Etihad Stadium, during which he helped the Citizens lift seven trophies.

Former Blaugrana coach Guardiola remarked: "Now I am less intoxicated about what happens here".

"I was at a fantastic age in which I was taking on the world. We took it on with some incredible players, a young president (Joan Laporta), Txiki (Begiristain)".

"They were lies and he knows it", the Spaniard told TV3 via MEN. It was a generation of brutal players and the best player in the world (Lionel Messi).

"I think a player like Yaya would be good for a club like Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd, Tottenham or Liverpool".

Such is the ill-feeling between Toure and Guardiola, Seluk says that the Ivorian would be willing to play for any top-six club next season with a weekly wage of £1, supplemented by selected bonuses.
