'Hostage situation' in Paris - man with 'BOMB and handgun' surrounded by armed police

A four-hour hostage standoff in central Paris ended with police moving in, arresting the suspect and freeing those held, France's interior minister announced late Tuesday.

A street in the French captial has been closed off as police cordon the area.

The attacker, who appeared to be brandishing a fake weapon, had doused his hostages in petrol, Reuters news agency reported, citing a police source.

Further, the motive of the accused has also not been disclosed yet.

No other motivations of hostage-taking it is not voiced.
