North Korean media praises Trump-Kim summit as 'meeting of the century'

The Foreign Minister said it was too early to say if the Trump Kim meeting could be deemed a success “but at least it’s a serious start”

A North Korean aide wearing latex gloves reportedly inspected and wiped the pen intended for Kim, which he didn't end up using.

Critics at home said the joint statement by the two leaders was short on detail and that Trump had made too many concessions to Kim.

While Trump was facing questions at home and among allies about whether he gave away too much in return for too little at the summit, North Korean state media heralded claims of a victorious meeting with the US president.

Kim, in return, agreed to work toward a vague "complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula".

"Although not part of the joint declaration, Mr Trump said after the summit that sanctions "will come off" once the United States is sure that the nukes are no longer a factor".

While Trump has talked about lowering overseas troop deployments, he says that's not on the table for South Korea right now.

The video was created by the White House's National Security Council to "help the president demonstrate the benefits of complete denuclearisation, and a vision of a peaceful and prosperous Korean Peninsula", White House spokesman Garrett Marquis said.
