The Land Rover Discovery is set to be moved from production near Birmingham by the beginning of 2019

Jaguar Land Rover is shifting all production of its Discovery model to Slovakia amid falling diesel sales, vehicle taxes and uncertainty about Britain's departure from the European Union. It is possible a new family of electrified and electric JLR cars coming from next year, including the relaunched XJ and Range Rover EV, codenamed Road Rover and expected to be launched before the start of the next decade, could be built at the plant, as part of JLR's desire to build electric cars in the UK.

Britain's biggest automaker, JLR has previously said its next-generation Discovery will be built at its Slovakia plant and on Monday announced there could be some job cuts in Britain as a result.

Jaguar Land Rover is to shift all production of its Discovery model to Slovakia from Birmingham in a move likely to affect hundreds of workers.

There are 1,800 agency workers in the Solihull plant, out of a workforce of 10,000.

Land Rover is moving production of its Discovery SUV to Slovakia, which will lead to job cuts in the UK.

Houthi missile attack kills three in Saudi Arabia
Malnutrition, cholera and other diseases have killed or sickened thousands of civilians over the years. Saudi Arabia has been targeted for leading an Arab coalition in fighting the Houthi rebels since 2015.

The company claims it is still committed to British manufacturing and promises to replace the production line in Solihull with a new line of hybrid and electric models by 2020.

In the meantime, Tata Motors is producing its first electric vehicles (I-PACE) in Austria. Most Range Rover Evoques and the related Discovery Sport are built at Land Rover's Halewood plant in the United Kingdom, however.

The big move could result in job losses in the United Kingdom, the company warned, although JLR says it remains "committed to the UK". Land Rover vehicles were first produced on the Solihull site in 1948.

In Britain, the company built just over 530,000 vehicles previous year at three production facilities and also has a separate engine site and headquarters, employing roughly 40,000 people in total.

The cost-saving move is said to be a response to increased taxation and declining demand for Diesel and petrol technology cars. It has also blamed Brexit for hitting demand in Europe's second-largest autos market, where demand fell 6 percent previous year.
