Poster of lockdown song in kindergarten classroom will break your heart

This is the horrifying nursery rhyme American five-year-olds are taught to survive school shootings

While touring a potential Somerville school for her daughter, Georgy Cohen stumbled upon a "jarring" nursery rhyme, set to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.

A poster, seen hanging on the chalkboard, has lyrics to a song about classroom lockdowns largely written in colorful markers.

"This should not be hanging in my soon-to-be kindergartner's classroom", the tweet read. The photo has been retweeted more than 14,000 times.

One child's parent, Georgy Cohen, first spotted the song on the wall on a tour of the school.

"Lockdown, Lockdown/It's all done/Now it's time to have some fun!".

The constant fear about an active shooter has left schools scrambling to do whatever they can to prepare and protect their students, whether that means giving them bulletproof plates that can fit inside backpacks or using nursery rhymes to teach them about lockdowns. "These are the things they, unfortunately, have to do", she said in an interview with the Globe.

Others on social media, said the poster left them feeling said how sad.

French prosecutor: No evidence of foul play in Anthony Bourdain's death
Traversing the globe meant visiting areas of conflict and also intense poverty, and Bourdain didn't shy away from either. CNN said in a statement shortly after his death that Anthony had passed away, and his talents as a chef were remarkable.

And, as one user added on Twitter, some adults might also remember nuclear bomb drills that were a part of some schools in the 1980s.

"To be shocked by it is important".

Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone and Superintendent of Schools Mary Skipper released a joint statement on June 7, reflecting on the heightened attention to school safety in the wake of a series of deadly school shootings. "Please talk to your legislators about the need for gun reform". "Stay outraged. And if it gets somebody to do something - to give money to an organisation or to call their representatives ... then great, I think that that's important".

She and Somerville Public Schools declined to identify the school, but district officials confirmed it was the work of one teacher and is not used across all of the city's schools.

So far in 2018, the U.S. has experienced 23 school shootings resulting in at least one injury or death.

They agreed with Cohen's initial assessment of the circumstances, calling the need for lockdowns "jarring" for students, educators, and families.
