The move followed the U.S. Treasury which said on Wednesday imposed additional sanctions on Lebanon's Hezbollah leadership, targeting its top two officials, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Naim Qassem. It is noted that the group is the faithful satellite of Iran, spreading the terrorist threat.

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait noted that the basis of their actions rests as its own legislation on the fight against terror, and the relevant resolutions of the United Nations.

A number of other individuals and firms, which are said to be affiliated with Hezbollah, were also hit with bans.

Hezbollah was formed following the Israeli regime's invasion of Lebanon and the ensuing occupation of its southern parts in 1980s, and now constitutes Lebanon's de facto military power. "It is right that Israel fully supports".

"The TFTC again demonstrated its great value to global security by disrupting Iran and Hizballah's destabilizing influence in the region". The announcement followed two United States moves in the past week to put pressure on Iran's financial networks, including sanctions announced on Tuesday that aimed at an alleged financial pipeline that moved "hundreds of millions of dollars" from Iran's central bank through an Iraqi bank to Hezbollah.

It was the third round of sanctions announced by Washington since the U.S. pulled out of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal in defiance of worldwide warnings for the White House not to harm the landmark agreement. They call the Shia group a terrorist organization.

The move comes a week after US President Donald Trump announced his country's withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal and that he would be re-imposing sanctions on Tehran.

"It is appalling, but not surprising, that Iran's senior-most banking official would conspire with the IRGC-QF to facilitate funding of terror groups like Hezbollah, and it undermines any credibility he could claim in protecting the integrity of the institution as a central bank governor", Treasury Secretary Mnuchin said in a statement.

Background: The United States sanctioned four individuals and one entity on May 15 with ties to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the Quds Force and Hezbollah.
