'The House That Jack Built' Trailer Reveals Lars Von Trier's Controversial Serial Killer Movie

The House That Jack Built Trailer Lars Von Trier

Director Lars von Trier returned to the Cannes Film Festival on Monday after a seven-year ban for controversial Hitler comments, but his new serial killer thriller failed to get over with the audience.

During a break in the film's production previous year, the director - along with cast members Matt Dillon and Uma Thurman [VIDEO] - attended a press conference with regarding the details of the project. Reports of 100 walkouts during its initial premiere in Cannes no exaggeration, and then there were the countless people leaving the auditorium the following day during its main press screening, one woman even sticking her middle finger up at the screen in the Palais as she exited - and that was before some of the film's most shocking moments. "It's disgusting", one woman said on her way out", he tweeted.

The director walked the red carpet along with some of the movie actors for the first time since his appearance at the worldwide film festival in 2011.

The Oscar Predictor said: "Just left Lars von Trier's The House That Jack Built".

There may have been a few walkouts throughout the film's more brutal scenes, but, like numerous director's films, there were plenty who found merit in it.

Trailers for the film were also released following its debut at Cannes. The film follows Jack's development as a murderer, following him through five important killings and providing glimpses into his troubling coming-of-age experience.

Nonetheless, those who remained in their seats until the very end met von Trier with a "10-minute standing ovation", similar to that received by Spike Lee earlier in the day for his film, BlackKklansman. According to an interview with the director, The House That Jack Built is supposed to draw parallels to the current political situation in the USA - particularly the rise of the new Republican president. He views each murder as an artwork in itself, even though his dysfunction gives him problems in the outside world. Now, von Trier has been given permission to return to Cannes, and he's doing so with The House That Jack Built. Let us know what you think.
