Report: Browns, Mayfield to be featured on HBO's Hard Knocks

Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield passes during rookie minicamp at the NFL football team's training camp facility Friday

Hard Knocks, which debuted in 2001, is a reality show that follows National Football League teams throughout training camp leading up to the regular season. And for a team with a 1-31 record in the last two seasons, the idea that the negatives from the show can somehow lower the franchise even further seems pretty remote.

What's more, on four occasions, teams made the playoffs in the year they appeared: the Bengals (2009, 2013), Jets (2010) and Houston Texans (2015). I want people to see how much our players and coaches care, how hard they work and how badly they want to win for Cleveland. We want to be great partners in this league, and we also recognize HARD KNOCKS gives fans a special opportunity to learn more about our team and players.

Whether Dorsey actually believes this is another matter but Ken Carman of 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland legitimately feels this is the ideal time for the Browns to be on the national stage.

The Browns have turned down previous opportunities to be on the award-winning series.

Williams appeared on the program in 2017 during his time with the Los Angeles Rams. The program's film crew is set to descend on the team's training camp this summer, with plans to shoot thousands of hours worth of behind-the-scenes footage.

"Hard Knocks" began in 2001 with the Baltimore Ravens.
