The National weather service says that a significant winter storm is expected Friday afternoon into Saturday evening and will likely include all precipitation types, strong winds, and blizzard conditions.

Much of the region is either in a Moderate Risk or an Enhanced Risk during this time frame.

Hail, winds over 60 miles per hour and isolated tornadoes are possible during the severe weather event.

On Twitter, the Tampa Bay office of the National Weather Service said damaging winds remain a primary threat, but tornados are possible, particularly near the coast.

The storm was blamed for damage across the state ranging from fallen trees and power lines to flooded roads.

The rain is expected to fall between 2 and 6 p.m., Gerapetritis said, adding that some storms could linger into the evening.
