Commonwealth Games 2018 lasted for 8 days and Indian contingent routinely secured gold on an everyday basis.

Empty seats, slam poetry and a lack of star power made for an underwhelming spectacle as the 21st Games drew to a close at Carrara Stadium on Sunday night.

Games CEO Mark Peters said organisers had "put in place a wide range of measures to ensure athlete welfare and the response of medical staff this morning was within agreed response guidelines and timeframes".

The decision meant television viewers were denied the chance to watch inspirational para-sports veteran Kurt Fearnley carrying the Australian flag into the venue.

"It's our best ever overseas games, we're very, very happy".

For the second successive match, the Roses scored in the final second to win by a single point, beating the overwhelming favourites 52-51 on the Gold Coast.

The highlight of the show, which was not universally liked and saw many people leaving the stadium midway, was a segment done by cricket legend Don Bradman's grand daughter Greta Bradman, who performed along with the members of the Queensland Ballet during the hand-over of the Games flag. India remains number three on the table with 25 golds and 59 medals overall. At the closing ceremony, Mary Kom led the Indian contingent which had over the past two weeks won 66 medals - for third best showing at a Commonwealth Games.

Bolt's heir apparent Yohan Blake stumbled in the individual 100m and had to settle for bronze, while double Olympic sprint champion Elaine Thompson went home with just a relay silver.

"Over the past three years, Jack Morton Worldwide, Australia has had the privilege of working side-by-side with GOLDOC in the development of the creative elements of the Opening and Closing ceremonies of the Commonwealth Games".

The Knights take on SunRisers at Eden Gardens
Pant did not spare Dhananjaya, hitting him for two sixes and a four as Delhi grabbed 19 runs of the 10th over. Kolkata Knight Riders play their next match against Delhi Daredevils on Monday.

Most of India's medals came from the shooting range (16) with gold medals for Jitu Rai, Manu Bhaker, Anish Bhanwala, Sanjeev Rajput, Heena Sidhu, Tejaswini Sawant, Shreyasi Singh.

"It's a blur. I just remember having the ball in my hands and then running away screaming", Housby said.

"When you look at these Games, the fact we've had medals across so many sports and medals coming in every day has been absolutely fantastic".

"So we don't get into that comparison".

In Sunday's gold medal final, Canada will play Australia, which earlier beat Scotland 103-46. "And they were inspirational".

"We don't really want to be integrated, we're Paralympians and they're Olympians", said Kelly Cartwright, an amputee who won long jump gold at the 2012 Paralympics and competed in the power-lifting on the Gold Coast.

Commonwealth Games Federation chief executive David Grevemberg believes the full integration is essential if the Games are to reflect the mission of the movement.

"Some of the things that have been done here have not only been Commonwealth firsts, they have been global firsts".
