October was never really created to be a blockbuster venture but opening day collections are lower than expected considering for a Varun Dhawan starrer. "He tweeted, "#October shows a SUPER 48.21% GROWTH on Sat. Metros/plexes are clearly contributing heavily to the revenue. Should continue the upward trend on Sun. Through positive word of mouth and good reviews the collections of the film are definitely picking up. Friday 5.04 crore, Saturday 7.47 crore. By the end of it "October" might be able to recover the cost of production and become Varun's tenth hit in a row.

The film has released in 1683 screens in India and 625 overseas. While the actor has been receiving praises for his performance in the film, Banita too made an impressive debut. The duo has been hailed for their performance by several film critics. This is the first time Varun has shed his heroic onscreen persona for a subtle character-based role and boy, he has left all of us stunned. The industry pundits had earlier stated that these kinds of films are for the niche viewers, but films with bigger stars are expected to get more audience.

Analysts have linked the drastic growth of the movie at box office to increasing interest in metropolitan cities.
