I don't even know in which court the case was going on.

A special NIA court on April 16 acquitted five accused, including Swami Aseemanand, in the 2007 Hyderabad Mecca Masjid blast case for lack of evidence.

The blast at the historic Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad on May 18, 2007 during Friday prayers was caused by a cellphone-triggered pipe bomb placed near wazukhana, a spot where ablutions are performed.

Ten people allegedly belonging to right wing organisations were named as accused in the case. In the blast case, the CBI had first arrested Aseemanand in 2010, but in 2017 they got conditional bail.

Aseemanand, Guptha, Sharma, Rateshwar and Chowdary, who faced trial, were acquitted on Monday. All those arrested and jailed were acquitted in 2008 and the subsequent investigations by the CBI in 2010 revealed that the blast was the handiwork of Hindu rightwing group Abhinav Bharat. Sunil Joshi, a prime accused, was shot dead by unidentified persons in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, on December 29, 2007, while key witness Lt Col Shrikant Purohit was declared hostile in February 2018.

Trial in the case was concluded in the fourth additional metropolitan sessions-cum-special court for NIA cases recently.
