Comey takes a swipe at Trump in plug for new book

In a television program broadcast on Sunday night, Comey called Trump "morally unfit to be president".

Trump fired Comey in May amid a sprawling investigation into his 2016 campaign and Russian meddling in the election.

Indeed, former FBI Director James Comey's highly anticipated book A Higher Loyalty climbed to the third highest spot on Amazon's best-seller list before it was even released Tuesday.

So instead of further exploration of whether President Trump obstructed justice through the pressure he tried to assert on Mr. Comey, the coverage centers on how vulgar and inappropriate Mr. Comey finds President Trump and, weirdly, the vulgar and inappropriate responses to all this coming out of Mr. Trump's Twitter account.

One could say Trump did his part to sell Comey's book on Monday by resuming his Twitter tirade without answering crucial questions or accounting for his own previous pro-Comey statements. Following this, interviewer George Stephanopoulos: "You can't say for certain that the president of the United States is not compromised by the Russians?" The most important being truth. Trump seized on that, saying Comey "was making decisions based on the fact that he thought she was going to win, and he wanted a job".

Though Comey did not vote in the election, he said he privately supported Clinton, as did his wife and four daughters.

The war of words between Trump and Comey has heated up with the publication of Comey's new book.

"And again, I don't know what that will be".

He later added that Trump may have committed obstruction of justice by repeatedly pressing him to drop his inquiry into the former national security adviser Michael Flynn. Cohen represented Trump in offering hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels, and Hannity has called CNN's president a "porn king" for the network's coverage of the Stormy Daniels scandal.

Acknowledging that he found it "painful" to imagine that the move had an impact on the election, Comey argued that his main responsibility was to protect the public's faith in law enforcement, and in the Federal Bureau of Investigation as an independent institution. "So what kind of marriage to what kind of man does your wife think there's only a 99 percent chance you didn't do that?" said Comey.

"A person who sees moral equivalence in Charlottesville, who talks about and treats women like they're pieces of meat, who lies constantly about matters big and small and insists the American people believe it, that person's not fit to be president of the United States, on moral grounds", said the former US Attorney for the Southern District of NY and deputy attorney general of the United States.

The probe into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russians during the 2016 presidential race, now led by independent special prosecutor Robert Mueller, increasingly menaces Trump's inner circle.

He also suggested Comey should be imprisoned, saying, "how come he gave up Classified Information (jail), why did he lie to Congress (jail)".

This week's edition of the latter featured none other than James Comey, the former FBI director who was sacked by POTUS after he failed to drop the investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

Asked whether Comey is someone he would describe as a "slime ball" - a term Trump has used twice in tweets - Ryan said on NBC's "Meet the Press" that "I don't speak like that. The interesting thing is that liberals said Comey should be charged under the Hatch Act for interfering in the election by reopening the investigation into Clinton's use of a private server", Kovalik explained.

'In an interview with- on Fox, an interview on 60 Minutes I think, both times he said that.
