Kathua rape case: Mehbooba Mufti to ask for fast track court

Kathua: In yet another unprecedented move, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, wrote to the Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Saturday, requesting to set up of a special fast track court to try the gang rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Kathua. "It has strengthened my belief that Jammu serves as a model of inclusiveness & together the people of J&K inspire secular unity & righteousness", Mufti tweeted. These two ministers had gone to pacify the people, but subsequently their presence was mistaken for trying to shield the accused.

The BJP legislators are meeting in the afternoon where all the party leaders, including MLAs and MLC, are likely to be present.

The BJP General Secretary said the development would have no bearing on the alliance as both the parties were working in coordination. "What is required now is to initiate criminal proceedings against all those who obstructed the process of justice to the victim", MLA Kulgam said. "There was never any confusion on this principled stand of the party".

While commenting over the assertions of Tasaduq Mufti, he said, what is stopping PDP to apologize to the people for entering into an incompatible alliance with RSS led BJP. Some BJP backed supporters are trying to defend the rapists demanding transfer of case from Crime Branch to CBI.

Jammu: The rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir has caused annoyance across the country. "Further decisions will be taken by her", Senior BJP leader Ram Madhav said after a Legislative Party meeting in Jammu today.
