Comey's current claims very well may have inherent news value for what they tell us about the current president's conduct - we can evaluate these claims against an existing set of known facts about that conduct - and there's no reason that critics of Comey's previous conduct toward Clinton are somehow disqualified from saying so.

White House officials were scouring news reports and reaching out to allies who have copies of the book, hoping to home in on passages that they believe undercut Comey's credibility or make him seem sympathetic to Democrats.

In the book, Comey also writes of some of Trump's physical attributes in an unflattering way.

Donald Trump asked James Comey to investigate the allegation that Vladimir Putin possessed a tape of the mogul engaging in erotic, urine-related activities on a hotel bed in Moscow - because he wanted to convince his wife that it wasn't true.

Former FBI director James Comey's 304-page book, coming out Tuesday, promises to share never-before-heard stories about his interactions with President Trump.

In a pair of tweets, Trump accused Comey of leaking classified information and lying to Congress under oath. The agency however closed the investigation in July 2016, and concluded that while Clinton was "extremely careless", it would not recommend filing any charges. His torturous logic? Like most of the country, he was certain Mrs Clinton would win the election and didn't want her new presidency tainted by the revelation that he'd kept quiet about the re-opened investigation.

The US president lives in "a cocoon of alternative reality" that he tried to pull others around him into, Comey adds, according to The Washington Post.

GOP congressmen want Comey's Trump memos
What are the most explosive claims in James Comey's memoir? She adds that Comey's loyalty is "only to himself". "Really weird. In the book, Comey also writes of some of Trump's physical attributes in an unflattering way.

Comey, fired by Trump in May 2017, says the president has no sense of what is right and wrong.

"As I was quickly learning", he writes of one of his first times in the White House, in the early 2000s, "Washington was a city where everyone seemed to question other people's loyalties and motivations, most often when they weren't in the room".

Trump's tweet storm comes ahead of a highly anticipated interview with Comey on ABC News to be broadcast on Sunday night.

His silly theory is based on the findings contained in a fraudulent, debunked dossier pieced together during the 2016 presidential election at the behest of failed Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and the Democrat National Committee.

“His face appeared slightly orange, ” Comey writes, “with bright white half-moons under his eyes where I assumed he placed small tanning goggles, and impressively coifed, bright blond hair, which upon close inspection looked to be all his.”. "Again, very odd", Comey wrote. Comey has said that some of the memos he wrote after meeting with Trump included classified material but that the one he passed to a friend did not.

As for McCabe: He'sthe former Federal Bureau of Investigation deputy director Attorney General Jeff Sessions fired in March.

Asked if he would bring legislation to the floor protecting special counsel Robert Mueller, Mr. Ryan said, "I don't think it's necessary". Trump used the investigation as a cudgel in the campaign and repeatedly said Clinton should be jailed for using a personal email system while serving as secretary of state.
