Apple Inc. plans to integrate recently acquired magazine app Texture into Apple News and debut its own premium subscription offering, according to people familiar with the matter. These plans are created to help Apple boost its services business to meet revenue goals the company has set for itself over the next few years.

Texture lets users subscribe to more than 200 magazines for Dollars 9.99 a month.

Currently, Apple sells subscriptions for iCloud storage and Apple Music.

Apple is no stranger to delivering people their news, with the Apple News app launching alongside iOS 9 two and a half years ago.

Assuming Bloomberg is correct in reporting that Texture will lead to a similar subscription-based model for magazines in Apple News, it raises some concerns.

A new report out of Bloomberg suggests Apple plans to launch its own news-focused subscription service in the next year. Texture previously had about 100 staff members. At the time, Beats Music had fewer than a million subscribers, and Apple has turned that into more than 40 million paying users. Would Apple kick them out of the subscription program, if news became unfavorable?

Apple will reportedly share a portion of the revenue from the new service with partner organizations. Apple also gets services revenue from Apple Pay transactions, App Store downloads, iTunes music, movie, and TV show purchases, and digital book downloads. However, it's likely that the company will use its current Apple News relationships to its advantage, as well as those that Texture brought into the mix (titles available on Texture included People, Rolling Stone, National Geographic, Sports Illustrated, and others). An Apple news subscription service makes sense, no?
