Mark Hamill, aka the iconic Star Wars hero Luke Skywalker, finally received a coveted star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, but while his fellow Jedi family gathered around, his longtime on-screen sister was missing.

The force will be with revellers at the forthcoming St Patrick's Day parade in Dublin, with Mark Hamill, the Star Wars actor, set to attend as an worldwide guest of honour. "We're looking forward to welcoming him back "home" to celebrate our national holiday and St. Patrick's Festival with us".

He fell in love with Ireland while filming scenes off the coast of Kerry, at Skellig Michael, for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Famed for his role as Luke Skywalker in the franchise, Hamill, 66, has spoken fondly of his trips to Ireland in recent years to film Star Wars in Co Kerry, updating his social media accounts with pictures from his time in the country. He said as much at SXSW during a screening ofThe Director and the Jedi, a new documentary based on the making of The Last Jedi.
