Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart wants to see how his injured right thumb responds over the next few days and receive a second opinion before deciding on a plan for moving forward, according to the Boston Globe's Adam Himmelsbach.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported it first, noting the injury was being called a sprain but was still under scrutiny.

Charania reports Smart will seek second opinions on his injury, so his timeline for recovery is undetermined. Not only is Kyrie Irving nursing a sore knee, but Jaylen Brown is in the concussion protocol, while Daniel Theis will have season ending knee surgery.

Case Keenum To Sign With Denver Broncos
Keenum, of course, comes off a season which saw him complete 67.6 percent of his passes with 3,547 yards and 22 touchdowns. The importance of ball security can not be overstated after the Broncos' quarterbacks fired 22 picks last season.

Broward Health spokeswoman Jennifer Smith said Tuesday that Anthony Borges' condition has now been upgraded to fair. The office of Broward County State Attorney Michael Satz filed the formal notice of its intentions Tuesday.

The Celtics thus wait for news of whether their valuable stopper will play again this season.

The Boston Celtics had a number of injuries dumped on them Monday, and the latest could be the worst. Smart scored 20 points with eight assists, seven rebounds and four steals against the Pacers on Sunday (Monday, PHL time). The 25-year-old rookie from Germany had become a key contributor off the bench for the Celtics, averaging 5.3 points and 4.3 rebounds this season.

Al Horford, who missed the IN game because of an illness, was listed as questionable.
