On the launch of major health mission by the Central government, PMO India tweeted, " A TB patient after successfully fighting against the disease can inspire many others. "Today I am confident that in the duration of 1 year we'll be able to achieve 90% immunisation".

India has the highest burden of tuberculosis in the world-each year, 29 lakh new cases of TB are reported; 4.20 lakh people, mostly poor, are known to die of the disease.

Modi said "We have not been successful in curbing Tuberculosis yet".

Referring to the results of recent Assembly elections in the three States of North Eastern region, Singh said, the revolutionary transformation in Northeast is a testimony to the Modi Government's outreach to unite the youth from different parts of country with diverse backgrounds through a common cord of common aspiration.

After inaugurating End-TB Summit in Delhi, the prime minister launched the TB-free India Campaign to take the activities under the National Strategic Plan for TB Elimination forward in a mission approach for ending the outbreak by 2025. He further said that front-line TB physicians and workers can make a most important contribution in this course. The target of 2025, however, has been emphasized by the ministry of health and family welfare at several occasions in the recent past.
