Report: Louisville players voted to reject NIT bid; Cards going anyway | Lexington Herald Leader

Louisville players voted against playing in the NIT, but the school accepted a bid anyway

The Marquette University men's basketball team has been selected to the 2018 NIT Tournament as a No. 2 seed and will host Harvard at the Al McGuire Center on Wednesday, March 14 at 6 p.m. after failing to make the NCAA Tournament.

At 24-7, the Hawkeyes won one game in the Big Ten Tournament before falling to Minnesota. She was a senior on Nebraska's 1998 NCAA Tournament squad that advanced to the second round with a win over New Mexico in Norfolk, Va.

That thinking has been costly for Nebraska, as many bracketologists quickly dismiss its 13-5 league record by saying it came against a sub-par conference.

The Huskers were left out due to a combination of lack of quadrant one wins and a down year for the Big 10 becoming the first team in conference history to be left out with more than 21 wins. "We didn't have any losses in quadrant three or quadrant four". The last time Nebraska made it, they were a ten-seed and lost in the first round to Baylor.

Junior guard Jake Lindsey said being able to play postseason basketball at home is the silver lining in missing the NCAA Tournament.

Thailand girds itself for Trump trade war
Gary Cohn resigned from his position as national economic director at the White House in the wake of the tariff announcement. The result is that even some of the U.S.'s closest trading partners are bewildered about where the announcement leaves them.

"Just very disappointed", Miles said of his players' reaction to not making the NCAA field.

"We know that they stumbled down the stretch, and that certainly affected their seeding, but they had enough on their résumé to get in". Nothing beats a home crowd. A win in the second round could result in a matchup against No. 2 seed Louisville or No. 3 seed Middle Tennessee.

"Like every year this was an extremely challenging process, but we are extremely excited about the field we were able to put together", Reggie Minton, chair of the NIT Selection Committee, said in a statement. The Nebraska players and coaches had a private watch party, and had to wait until almost the end of the bracket reveal to hear their name. The changes include playing four 10-minute quarters instead of two 20-minute halves and a moving back of the 3-point line.

But when the bracket was finally unveiled on Sunday, it was obvious that those teams who had multiple Q1 wins - especially those who played the most Q1 games - were given a significant advantage in the at-large pool.

"I'm not ready to stop watching now and seeing Rowsey one more time is worth the price", said Rogers.
