FC Barcelona playmaker Philippe Coutinho has commented on the rumours linking his global teammate and friend Neymar with a return to the Camp Nou.

"He is a great player, I play with him for the worldwide team and it is a real privilege".

Paris Saint-Germain rocked the football world in the summer when they splashed £198 million to make Neymar the most expensive player in history.

Barca coach Ernesto Valverde called the rumours "fantasy" on Friday but Rakitic was more welcoming to the idea of the Brazil worldwide coming back to the club.

While Barcelona's stars want to see the 26-year-old back in the side, manager Ernesto Valverde says he does not know anything about reports that Neymar could return.

A return to Barcelona has been mooted, as has a move to Real Madrid who have done little to quell speculation.

"My only surprise is there has been an admittance that it appears to have gone pear shaped so quick and there is now a desire to go back to La Liga, possibly because of the defeat in the Champions League, even though he was not playing [in the second leg]".

"There was also the talk about stepping out of the shadows of Lionel Messi, but really?"

"But I can not see him leaving", he added. "I would always put Ney on my team", he added.

Ruiz highlighted Al-Khelaifi's dropping faith in Neymar's commitment after the PSG figurehead recently said he was "2,000 percent sure" the player would stay in Paris beyond the summer.

"With Neymar, that's life, but I have the same feelings as Rakitic", Coutinho said at the presentation of the Mediterranean International Cup.
