Bayern Munich seem to be cruising into the last eight of the Champions League yet again after a stunning 5-0 home win over Besiktas in the first leg.

For Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes, who replaced Carlo Ancelotti in October, this was his 11th straight win in the Champions League which set a new competition record.

Domagoj Vida's red card early in the first leg of their last-16 clash allowed Bayern to take complete control in Germany, running out 5-0 winners and all but eliminating Besiktas before the return fixture.

Winger Ricardo Quaresma was Besiktas' most unsafe player in the first half with three chances, although none really troubled Sven Ulreich.

Besiktas' best chance of the first period fell to Ricardo Quaresma in the 38th minute, but the Portuguese saw his free kick just miss the crossbar.

With 18 minutes gone, Bayern captain Thomas Mueller swung in a cross and the Spain global thumped the ball home from close range.

Bayern added a second soon after the break, when Gökhan Gonul turned home into his own net in the 46th minute.

Nevertheless, Lewandowski played until the 67th minute, but failed to add to his 32 goals this season in all competitions.

A Gokhan Gonul own goal immediately after half-time doubled Bayern's lead before Vagner Love pulled one back.

Second-half substitute Sandro Wagner then capped the scoring for the visitors six minutes from time, when he chested in David Alaba's looping cross at the goalmouth.
