The petition, posted to, claimed many users are trying to revert to older versions of the app.

Nick Cicero, founder and CEO of social video analytics software, Delmondo said in a statement that, "the new native analytics are a win all around".

A petition calling on Snapchat to rollback its major redesign has now hit a million signatories, up from 600,000 in just a few days.

"Many "new features" are useless or defeat the original purposes Snapchat has had for the past years".

Chief Executive Evan Spiegel said on the organisation's full-year earnings call recently that the objective of the redesign was to make the program "simpler and easier to work with, particularly for elderly users".

How many people have to hate an update for it to be reconsidered?

But in a tweet, Snap advised against that.

In November, Snapchat revealed details of its update, which includes moving all chats and stories from friends to the same spot when you swipe left.

"As expected, it will take time for our community to get used to the changes, but overall, we are pleased with the initial results".

Rohan Midha, managing director of influencer marketing agency PMYB, told the BBC that Snapchat had made a mistake in removing celebrities and influencers - high profile individuals with lots of followers - from the "friends" section.

"Many users have found that it has not made the app easier to use, but has in fact made many features more hard", the petition says.

Maybe if Snapchat won't listen to the 1,024,180 (a number that's rapidly rising) people who have signed the petition to reverse the update, they'll listen to Chrissy Teigen.

"But I don't think this large Silicon Valley company is going to take notice of a petition".
