Dueling press conferences on sexual misconduct allegations against Scott Baio competed for attention Wednesday, as a former child actor accused Baio of harassment and assault three decades ago and Baio sent out his lawyer and rep to label himself the victim of a "media witch hunt". Bloom announced that more than a dozen cast and crew members from Charles in Charge corroborated Eggert and Polinsky's accusations. I would protest and ask him to stop saying these things, but he said it was for my own good.

Polinsky, 43, claimed that Baio, 57, bullied him for years with homophobic remarks, in addition to pulling down Polinsky's trousers in front of the crew of the '80s sitcom and throwing a cup of hot tea in his face.

Alexander Polinsky, who was just 13 years old when he starred on the hit 1980s comedy, said Baio was a "tyrant" who regularly humiliated him with homophobic remarks and, in one incident, pulled down Polinsky's trousers in front of his co-stars and the show's crew.

"One of the most painful memories of my childhood was when Scott and I were backstage waiting to enter the set for a scene". "I'm hurt and I'm angry, but mostly I am stunned that anyone could be so cruel as to attack not just me, but my entire family with lies". Polinsky appeared with co-star Nicole Eggert, who came forward last month with claims that Baio sexually assaulted her when she was a minor on the set of the hit sitcom.

Alexander Polinsky speaks during a news conference with his attorney Lisa Bloom regarding sexual harassment allegations against Scott Baio. Polinsky recalled another instance in which he faked throwing a basketball to Baio.

Later, Baio's representatives organised their own press conference; "I've tried my best to let the proper authorities handle this matter", Baio said via a social media account.

In a statement read by his spokesperson Brian Glicklich, Baio said "For reasons I don't understand I am the target of false claims that threaten everything that's important in my life". I will use every ounce of strength and faith in God that I have to defeat the people behind this. "This story is just beginning to be told", the statement continued.

Eggert, who also briefly spoke at the press conference, backed up Polinsky's claims.

An attorney for Baio, Jennifer McGrath, characterized the claims made by Polinsky and actress Nicole Eggert as "ever-changing" and evidence of a "hunger for publicity". They say at least ten witnesses have since spoken to police after Eggert reported Baio to the LAPD;Polinksy has also reported Baio to the police and is demanding an apology from Baio for the both of them. Polinsky said this event triggered an "unrelenting" pattern of abuse.

"Charles in Charge" aired for five seasons. "The abuse continued through the run of the show". Eggert, who said she felt guilty about what she says happened to Polinsky, added that he was tripped, pushed around and regularly verbally abused by Baio because "he was in the wrong place at the wrong time". Last week she launched a Police complaint against initiating the investigations.
