Producer 'broken by Weinstein scandal' takes her own life

Is this the first thing that you felt when you heard of your former manager taking her life and her family blaming among others your own contempt against Jill?

In a statement to ET on Thursday, Messick's family was critical of both Weinstein and McGowan, saying, in part: "Jill was victimized by our new culture of unlimited information sharing and a willingness to accept statement as fact".

In an Instagram post Saturday, the actress/activist shared her condolences for her ex-manager, who killed herself Wednesday after getting caught up in McGowan's toxic struggle with accused sexual predator Harvey Weinstein.

The actress also said she was comforted by Messick after divulging the details of the attack.

"Over the past few months, many women have come out with allegations against Harvey Weinstein, including Rose McGowan, who has repeatedly spoken with the press, striking out against not only her alleged attacker, but a great many others". May you find serenity with the stars, ' she captioned the pic of the sun. The mother of two died Wednesday in Los Angeles.

Weinstein has called McGowan's rape accusation "a bold lie" through his lawyer, claiming the actress told Messick soon afterward that the encounter was consensual.

In a statement from Weinstein's attorney Ben Brafman denying the film honcho raped Weinstein, he used a quote attributed to Messick. The exec was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and had been battling depression for years. She opted not to add to the feeding frenzy, allowing her name and her reputation to be sullied despite having done nothing wrong.

Ashley Paulman continued, 'Rose is at the helm of her own cis white feminism- selfish, self important, and she has publicly tormented victims.

"Seeing her name in headlines again and again ... along with Harvey's desperate attempt to vindicate himself, was devastating for her", the statement said.

A representative for Weinstein has not replied to HuffPost emails seeking comment.
