In a statement to ET on Thursday, Messick's family was critical of both Weinstein and McGowan, saying, in part: "Jill was victimized by our new culture of unlimited information sharing and a willingness to accept statement as fact".

In an Instagram post Saturday, the actress/activist shared her condolences for her ex-manager, who killed herself Wednesday after getting caught up in McGowan's toxic struggle with accused sexual predator Harvey Weinstein.

The actress also said she was comforted by Messick after divulging the details of the attack.

May you find serenity with the stars, ' she captioned the pic of the sun. The mother of two died Wednesday in Los Angeles.

Weinstein has called McGowan's rape accusation "a bold lie" through his lawyer, claiming the actress told Messick soon afterward that the encounter was consensual.
