Earlier in the day, a fierce encounter broke out between terrorists and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday morning following a thwarted bid to attack a camp here.

According to reports, two heavily armed terrorists were seen approaching towards CRPF camp in Srinagar's Karan Nagar at around 4.30 am Monday.

The sanitation and search operations is still underway.

Searches in the area revealed that the militants, carrying backpacks and AK-47 rifles, had taken shelter in a building near the CRPF camp, which was then surrounded. "He fired, forcing them to flee from the bylanes", media reports quoted a CRPF spokesperson as saying.

The attack comes two days after suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed militants attacked the Sunjuwan Army camp in Jammu. The area was being sealed "to disallow the militants to escape from the spot".
