Frank Reich The Favorite For Colts Head Coach Job

Colts reportedly have Frank Reich as their favorite for HC

Reich comes to the Colts after New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels had a late change of heart last week (more on that here).

The Indianapolis Colts have reportedly agreed to a deal to make former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich their next head coach. His greatest game was the 1992 AFC Wild Card game, where he quarterbacked the Bills to victory after overcoming a 35-3 deficit to win 41-38 in overtime.

Reich is best known as the Bills' longtime backup quarterback behind Jim Kelly, but has climbed the ladder in the coaching world since his first job with the Colts in 2006. McDaniels' change of heart opened up one National Football League head-coaching job. The team announced it was "surprised and disappointed" when McDaniels told the Colts he was staying with the Patriots "after agreeing to contract terms" with Indianapolis. He's a quality hire and was a big part of the Eagles offensive success in 2017.

The offensive guru was an assistant in Indianapolis from 2008-11. He was promoted to quarterbacks coach for the 2009-10 seasons and then was the wide receivers coach in 2011.

Reich began his coaching career in Indianapolis, where he spent six seasons, some of which closely working with QB Peyton Manning. An announcement could come as soon as Tuesday.
