Former Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce raises his number 34 to the rafters during the ceremony to retire his number at TD Garden.

Despite the complete overhaul of the Cavaliers roster, LeBron James is still one of the best players in the league and will cause the Boston Celtics a lot of problems this Sunday.

James shook off a first quarter leg injury to finish with 24 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds for the Cavaliers who were one of the busiest teams at the National Basketball Association trading deadline.

In their first appearances since being acquired at the trade deadline, Jordan Clarkson scored 17 points, Rodney Hood had 15, George Hill had 12 and Larry Nance scored five points.

James' fadeaway with 8:07 remaining in the first half tied things at 40 after Boston led for much of the first quarter.

The injury required surgery and he has battled back since, earning his PGA Tour card via the Tour last season. It's the second victory of his career, the first coming almost six years ago at the 2012 Greenbrier Classic.

The Cavaliers broke free from a tight start with a strong performance in the middle quarters, outscoring the Celtics 33-20 in the second and 31-22 in the third.

The Cavs led by as many as 29 in the fourth.

James collided with Aron Baynes with about five minutes left in the first quarter and hobbled to the sidelines.

After being treated on the Cavs' bench, James checked back into the game with 8:58 left before the break. LeBron's teammates have struggled to knock down the shots he has been providing in recent weeks so hopefully the new line-up will be able to convert more than the old side, in order to give the Celtics a good game on Sunday. He found complementary players to All-Star and MVP candidate James Harden, who has led the team to a second-place standing this season, just one game behind the league-leading Golden State Warriors.
