Brandan Wright to sign with Rockets after completing buyout

The Memphis Grizzlies and forward Brandan Wright are reportedly working toward a contract buyout, according to ESPN's Chris Haynes.

Johnson, now in his 17th season, is averaging 7.3 points on 42% shooting. The 6-foot-10 North Carolina product went through a month-long stretch from late November to late December in which he missed 15 of a possible 16 games with a groin injury.

Wright, 30, has played 10 National Basketball Association seasons, serving as a reliable frontcourt presence. In those 28 games Wright averaged 6.8 points and 2.8 rebounds per contest.

Joseph Lopez, 22, is charged with the execution-style slaying of the teenager, Natalie Bollinger, in Adams County. He says he tried to talk her out of it but she was determined and said she was having issues with her boyfriend.

In the midst of his 11th National Basketball Association season, the 30-year-old Wright is averaging 5.0 points and 3.4 rebounds per contest in 27 games.

The 30-year-old Wright will fit in nicely as a fellow lob-catcher and rim-protector behind starting center Clint Capela for the Rockets (41-13), who are just a half game behind the defending champion Golden State Warriors for top billing in the Western Conference. Capela's now averaging 14.3 points and 10.8 rebounds per game, with both numbers being the best of his National Basketball Association career to date.

Houston will mark his seventh National Basketball Association destination. It was reported earlier in the day by Chris Haynes of ESPN that Wright, who now plays for the Memphis Grizzlies, would soon hit the league's buyout market.
