Father Of Otto Warmbier Says North Korea 'Not Really' Participating In Olympics

North Korea is winning the Olympics - and it's not because of sports

Kim Yo Jong, the younger sister of DPRK leader Kim Jong Un, and his special envoy, was in town for numerous cultural events at the beginning of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

The United States is prepared to talk to North Korea without preconditions, U.S. Vice President Mike Pence said in comments published on Sunday evening. The very day Moon received the invitation, the North vowed to "quantitatively and qualitatively bolster" its nuclear capabilities.

Trump has at times questioned the objective of further talks with the North after years of negotiations by previous USA administrations failed to halt the North's weapons programs.

Sources told CNN that sending ceremonial head of state Kim Yong Nam and Kim's sibling reads as more of a symbolic act than any concrete diplomatic initiative by North Korea.

While the Winter Games are just starting to heat up this week, already success has been made for a stretch in world peace with the inclusion of North Korea into the games, proving once again how the power of sports can truly change the world.

On Saturday North Korean leader Kim Jong-un invited the South's President, Moon Jae-in, to Pyongyang for talks.

On Friday, Yo-jong and the delegation arrived in South Korea, marking the first time that a member of the North's ruling family visited the South following the 1950-53 Korean War. "So the maximum pressure campaign is going to continue and intensify".

'Having these red communists in the heart of Seoul is an utter humilation!' one protester shouted near the venue as dozens of others waved banners condemning both Moon and Kim Jong Un.

Seoul seeks communication, lower military tension ahead of possible North Korea summit
The previous meetings came after rounds of global talks aimed at eliminating the North's nuclear program, which eventually failed. Vice-President Mike Pence who sat just a few feet (less than a meter) away and seemed to make an effort not to acknowledge them.

Huddersfield wallop Bournemouth for vital victory
Now it's the first time that we've been in the bottom three, because of goal difference, and now we are the team who can chase. For Bournemouth, in contrast, a seven-game unbeaten sequence came to an end in West Yorkshire.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe demanded of Kim Yong Nam that North Korea resolve the issue of Japanese nationals abducted to North Korea and abandon its nuclear and missile development programs.

Vice president Mike Pence said in a newspaper interview the US and South Korea have agreed on terms for further diplomatic engagement with North Korea, first with Seoul and then possibly leading to direct talks with Washington without pre-conditions.

White House officials stressed that Pence had applauded only for the American team, but Asia experts said the vice president's refusal to stand could be seen as disrespectful to the hosts.

The spokesman says Moon also called for a quick resumption of dialogue between the United States and North Korea.

The handwritten invitation to President Moon was delivered by Mr Kim's influential sister, Kim Yo-jong, at a landmark meeting in the presidential palace in Seoul, as the Games opened on Saturday. But North Korea's record on human rights and the growing threat from its nuclear weapons program appeared out of mind.

The officials toasted with the Korean liquor "soju" and were served buckwheat and potato pancakes, dried pollock soup, grilled halibut and other dishes. The U.S.is wise to the ruse.

This item corrects that Kim Yo Jong is the leader's sister.
