Facing Midnight Deadline, White House 'Prepares For Shutdown'

Rand Paul to oppose Trump's controversial Fed pick

Trump tweeted early Friday that he had signed the budget deal to reopen the government, a little more than eight hours after the shutdown technically began. That's why some lawmakers say the deadline for action is March 5, even though DACA recipients can now apply to renew their protections under a court order that the Trump administration is fighting. The final vote was 240-186, with 167 Republicans voting "yes" and 119 Democrats voting "no".

Paul said the decision is a slap in the face to Republicans, who since the Obama administration, have adamantly insisted that all spending legislation's be funded by budget offsets.

Officials with the Office of Management and Budget, the agency that coordinates shutdowns, said that if the spending measure managed to pass overnight, the government would open in the morning on schedule.

While American taxpayers were nestled snug in their beds, congressional Republicans were plotting to pass the second-largest spending increase in a decade.

But the libertarian, failed 2016 GOP presidential contender and "wacko bird" - a moniker an angry Sen. I can' good faith, just look the other way because my party is now complicit in the deficits.

"Isn't that the very definition of intellectual dishonesty?" he asked.

As Senator Paul pointed out, the 650-page spending plan was only made public on Wednesday night, so many details remain unclear.

According to The Washington Post, that figure is United States $500,000 million. The budget deal approved by Congress matters a lot to the Pentagon, and for domestic programs for opioids, health centers and research funding. The debt limit would be suspended through March 2019, putting the next vote on it safely past this year's midterm elections.

Why some Democrats are not happy?

The issue led to a three-day government shutdown last month when Democrats insisted protections for DREAMers be included in a short-term spending bill to keep the government running.

In the House, 67 Republicans voted against the package, citing the increased spending on non-defense programs, while another 119 Democrats voted against it because it did not include codification of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals immigration program. While fiscal conservatives were way of adding billions of dollars to the national debt two months after passing a $1.5 trillion (Dh5.5 trillion) tax cut package, liberals were in revolt because the deal does nothing to protect young undocumented immigrants from deportation. "Her team was in on it", said top GOP vote counter Patrick McHenry, R-N.C.

President Donald Trump is making the case on Twitter for electing more Republicans to Congress after signing a $400 billion spending plan.

"Do not conspire with this government", he said.

"The White House's current proposal €" one that would put 1.8 million immigrants on a path to citizenship, but also boost border security, and dramatically curtail legal immigration €" has been panned by Democrats, and several other bipartisan efforts have stalled.

Kellyanne Conway, the president's adviser, told Conspiracy Talk News that the agreement offers long-term budgetary certainty and funding for government priorities, including infrastructure and funds for the military.

"We will bring a solution to the floor, one that the president will sign", said Ryan.
