Why Is Europe Sending Refugees Back to War Torn Afghanistan

Bajwa made the remarks during the Chiefs of Defence Conference held in Kabul, which was attended by commander of the U.S. Central Command, commander of Resolute Support Mission (RSM) in Afghanistan and army chiefs of Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa arrived in Kabul on Tuesday, where he is expected to attend the Chief of Defence Conference, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

While insisting that "our preference is to solve the Afghan issue through peaceful dialogues", the letter also warned that Taliban forces "cannot be subdued by sheer force" and that seeking a peaceful solution does not mean "that we are exhausted or our will has been sapped".

The overall situation in Afghanistan probably will deteriorate modestly this year in the face of persistent political instability, sustained attacks by the Taliban-led insurgency, unsteady Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) performance, and chronic financial shortfalls.

Chiefs of defense also reiterated their commitment to fighting terrorism throughout the region, and discussed ways of working together to counter drug trafficking and other cross-border security concerns.

"There will be no safe haven for any terrorist group", Nicholson also said.

"I believe that at last Pakistan will bow to worldwide pressure and will join the fight against terrorism", Afghan Defense Ministry spokesman Daulat Waziri said on February 13.

"Our preference is to solve the Afghan issue through peaceful dialogue", the Taliban said on Wednesday, while warning that their readiness to find peace should not be taken as a sign of weakness and that their armed campaign would be sustained no matter how powerful the USA opposition is. "Regions develop as a whole, not individual countries", Gen Qamar said in what appears to be a statement linked to the U.S. new strategy that sought greater role for India in the region.

"The success of the Afghan operations around the country, supported by Resolute Support and U.S forces, have caused the enemy high casualties everywhere".

United States airstrikes have gone after terrorist support networks and degraded their ability to plan attacks in Afghanistan or across the borders with Afghanistan's neighbors.

But the recent string of attacks in Kabul has once again put things back to the square one. "They are very limited in their capabilities; they commit suicide because they can't fight anymore", said Major Taj Mohammad Begharaz, the 215th Corps' tactical operations center chief, using an acronym for improvised explosive devices.
