Villarreal Stun Real Madrid At The Bernabeu

Real are fourth in the Liga standings and only one point ahead of Villarreal, while runaway leaders Barcelona could stride a remarkable 19 points clear of Zinedine Zidane's side if they beat Real Sociedad on Sunday.

"I am exhausted of hearing that Real Madrid are bad, it is easy to say that everything is bad but you know that everything is not negative here", Zidane told a press conference.

That has inevitably led to criticism of Zidane and his squad but the Frenchman claims it is not all doom and gloom at the Santiago Bernabeu.

"We had a corner and they caught us out of place, it's not a lack of attitude".

"You [the media] know very well it is not all negative here".

Yet another difficult night for Zinedine Zidane’s men

Real Madrid were the better team in the opening forty-five minutes with the best chances seeing a header from Gareth Bale being ruled out for an offside infringement and a free-kick from Cristiano Ronaldo hitting the cross-bar. 'I can not think two or three years down the line, as I know how it is here, even having a contract, which means nothing.

He added: 'For me, we are recovering things and we will (recover) with my players and staying relaxed, without problems'.

'I just go game to game, year to year, ' said Zidane.

"It's very hard to explain what is going on, everyone in the dressing room feels bad, but this is football, the team that scores more goals wins and today that was Villarreal", Carvajal said.

Madrid opened the scoring in the 11th minute, Vazquez heading home Dani Carvajal's deep cross when left unmarked at the back post.
