ACC Liverpool has confirmed that its events programme will proceed as planned following a serious fire in its auto park.

Police said an "accidental fire within a vehicle caused other cars to ignite".

A KESWICK woman who attended the Liverpool International Horse Show at the city's Echo Arena on New Year's Eve said she feared there had been a terrorist attack, as news broke of a fire in the neighbouring multi-storey vehicle park.

The horses were moved to safety inside the arena.

Nobody got injured, be it humans or horses.

The fire reached temperatures of 1000 degrees C, and required 12 fire engines from neighbouring departments to bring it under control.

The blaze engulfed Liverpool Waterfront multi-storey auto park in King's Dock, next to the Arena and Convention Centre (ACC) Liverpool, on Sunday.

Oil tanker still ablaze, search for missing crew continues
Chinese media has shared footage of oil tanker Sanchi puffing black clouds of smoke as rescue boats try to douse the flames. The 21 Chinese crew members of the CF Crystal vessel, which had been carrying grain from the United States, were rescued.

Mr Prattey added: "We are sorry to customers who were due to attend the evening performance of the Liverpool International Horse Show, which was cancelled as a result of the fire, as well as those people whose vehicles were in the auto park and who have been affected by this bad situation". Private individuals offered shelter on social media and through the mayor's office as well.

Writing to the government, Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson urged Minister Nick Hurd, with responsibility for fire services, to re-evaluate current building regulations in an attempt to ensure something like this does not happen again, including the provision of sprinklers. "Very proud of all the staff who work there", he tweeted.

Former Liverpool and England global footballer Mark Wright and his wife Sue, who were visiting the horse show, were forced to abandon their vehicle and fled along with six children who were with them as they dialled 999 for help.

Terrified motorists abandoned their cars and fled from the blaze, along with 4,000 attendees of the show, on New Year's Eve.

ACC Liverpool told Pollstar in a statement that its events program will proceed as planned at Echo Arena.

"It was frightening. We could hear the bangs of auto windows exploding", he said. We ask for everyone's patience and understanding while investigations continue.
