Stephen Miller Joins Tucker to Talk Immigration, Contentious CNN Interview

13 January 2018, 01:51 | Taylor George

President Trump's senior policy adviser Stephen Miller was reportedly "escorted" out of the network's Washington headquarters after a fiery interview with anchor Jake Tapper.

The paper said two sources reported that Miller had refused several requests to leave and that in the end security was called to escort him out of the building.

Michael Wolff, author of "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House", took issue with a Bannon mea culpa issued Sunday, in which Trump's former chief strategist sought to make amends for his comments.

Tapper eventually cut off the Trump advisor's microphone, telling him that he'd "wasted" enough of his viewers time.

President Trump praised Miller, tweeting shortly after the appearance which at times devolved into an on-air shouting match, that his aide had "destroyed" Tapper. Known white nationalist, Richard Spencer, had said at one point, that he was, actually, a mentor to Stephen Miller in college. He urged his followers to "watch the hatred and unfairness of this CNN flunky!"

"Don't act all offended", Tapper told Miller. "It's in his imagination", Mr Trump said on Saturday.

Miller said Monday night that the transcript leak is "just another example of CNN's very low journalistic standards".

Before he was cut off, Miller fumbled when asked whether Trump met with Russian operatives after his son, Donald Trump Jr., got together with them in an infamous June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower.

"Jake, what I care about is having three minutes to tell the truth about the president of the United States", Miller said.

Both CNN and the White House declined to comment on the nature of Miller's departure.

"It reads like an angry, vindictive person spouting off to a highly discreditable author", Miller said. "And the tragic thing about this - and there are many things about it that are unfortunate - but the portrayal of the president in the book is so contrary to reality, to the experience of those who work with him".

President Donald Trump's staunch defense of his own mental acuity this weekend all but ensured the questions mounting about his fitness will increase in the coming week, which is set to culminate Friday with his first known medical exam since taking office.

"This is a guy who made up a lot of stories to try and sell books", she told Fox News.

Miller's politics quickly came into question soon after becoming a prominent voice in the Trump administration: As a teenager during the Bush administration, Miller wrote a letter to a local publication deriding the "rampant political correctness" at his high school.
