Nigel Farage's judgement is shot to pieces, UKIP AM says

Some genius just edited Jacob Rees Mogg and Nigel Farage into Shaun of the Dead

The former UKIP boss has regained the political limelight this week after appearing to call for a second referendum on Britain and the EU.

"To be clear, I do not want a second referendum, but I fear one may be forced upon the country by parliament", Farage wrote in an article on the Daily Telegraph website. The percentage that would vote to leave next time would be very much bigger than it was last time round.

Estimates from Nomura's United Kingdom economics team, led by George Buckley, suggest that sterling would pop up to around $1.40 (still around 5-6% lower than pre-referendum) should a second vote be announced.

Earlier this week he raised the possibility of a second referendum on Brexit.

The former Ukip leader said he was increasingly anxious that pro-EU campaigners were dominating the argument, while Leave supporters had just "closed the doors" after securing victory in the 2016 referendum. That is how deep my distrust is for career politicians.

Farage told the journalist Michael Crick last September that he had not been paid his MEP salary for several months because of the dispute over Ukip spending, but the parliament source said that was not true.

"This poses a big question for Leavers".

"We should just get on with it". Do we stick with the view that the result will stand or acknowledge the fact that we face this potential threat?

Two of Britain's most prominent Brexit campaigners have endorsed a re-run of the referendum as a way to stop European Union supporters from trying to water down or even halt Brexit.

Mr Farage has even admitted that pro-Brexit MPs would lose a historic vote over Brexit in Parliament. "I agree. Bring it on".

A spokesman for Ukip's bloc in the parliament, the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy group, said: "There is a vindictive campaign by the European parliament of selective persecution of Eurosceptic MEPs, parties and groups". The original vote was 52 per cent to 48 per cent in favour of Brexit.

Prime Minister Theresa May has ruled out a second vote.
