LeBron James #23 of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Kyrie Irving #11 of the Boston Celtics look on during the second half at TD Garden on January 3, 2018 in Boston. However, it told Kyrie Irving everything he needed to know about his future with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

ESPN recently did an interview with Cavs General Manager Koby Altman, where they stated he was advised by Lue to hold onto Irving, just like the Lakers did when Lue's former teammate Bryant demanded a trade.

As the world turns (or flips, if you're Kyrie), the revisionism of the breakup between Irving and James is still unfolding.

For the Cavaliers, they did surprisingly well in the Irving trade.

News of Kyrie Irving's trade request from the Cleveland Cavaliers rocked the National Basketball Association world in July, but from the sounds of it, the situation had been brewing for a while. Team and league sources said James would not commit.

The story also confirmed that when Gilbert met with Irving's camp and asked about his preferred trade destinations, Irving's agent initially offered the Knicks, Spurs and Timberwolves. Everyone will say that Kyrie made the right/wrong decision based on how that series goes. Some people are calling Irving out for not being more professional during it, while others are using it as proof that Irving didn't stand a chance in Cleveland. "There were no conversations like, 'OK, this is an opportunity we can pursue.' It wasn't a recruitment process".

"I'm not talking about your shot".

LeBron James was a big part of it, just not in the way you might think. Both he and the team are off to a phenomenal start despite losing Gordon Hayward on opening night (another interesting topic that Irving opens up about with MacMullan), and Irving couldn't be happier. I'm not going to point fingers, even though I know fingers will get pointed anyway, but the way it happened was disappointing. It turned into a narrative where everyone got to have an opinion on why I should do this, why I should do that. I'm selfish. That's fine because that's not reality.
