Detective Pikachu Releases On 3DS This March Alongside Giant Amiibo

13 January 2018, 04:01 | Kevin Scott

Detective Pikachu is on the case, coming March 2018

Detective Pikachu is the newest confirmed Nintendo amiibo in months

Detective Pikachu will hopefully get to the bottom of Nintendo's long running amiibo stock issues when the game releases for North America and Europe on March 23. Perhaps it's no surprise the game which inspired the film is finally being released in the West. Western players will receive both episodes with their purchase.

Though the game is called Detective Pikachu, players actually control a boy named Tim Goodman. When that game arrives, it'll be accompanied by an amiibo quite unlike any you've seen before. At just under 14 centimeters tall, it's nearly double the size of the Super Smash Bros.-edition Pikachu Amiibo. The Amiibo is much larger than the standard sized figures, and when used with the game it will "unlock short videos that may contain helpful hints for your investigation".

A special amiibo is also being manufactured to coincide with the game's release. The game was a Pokemon spinoff adventure sold only on the Nintendo eShop, starring a hyper-intelligent Pikachu and the human who can understand him. Tim, along with a talkative, coffee-loving Pikachu, solve mysteries in Ryme City.

It was also reported that the company is planning to open more vehicle showrooms specifically catered to women in the kingdom. Careem operates in 13 countries across the Middle East, North Africa, and Pakistan and is valued at around $1 billion.

Nintendo says there are more details on Detective Pikachu to come, but for now, mark your calendars for March and sharpen those deductive skills.

Check out the trailer and let us know if you're as hyped for the upcoming set of case files as we are. Still, that won't keep me from pushing hard for Detective Pikachu in the next Smash Bros.
