Ryan Reynolds to Star in Pokemon Movie 'Detective Pikachu' (Exclusive)

Ryan Reynolds is set to star in the upcoming Pokemon film Detective Pikachu

Detective Pikachu has finally tracked down the man who will provide his voice in the upcoming live-action Pokémon movie from Legendary Pictures.

Alongside Reynolds in the first non-cartoon Pokémon adventure will be Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom's Justice Smith and Kathryn Newton from Big Little Lies, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Filming of the Detective Pikachu movie is set to begin next month.

Before Reynolds was on an alleged shortlist for the role, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Mark Wahlberg, and Hugh Jackman were also considered for the titular Pikachu. This marks a huge get for Legendary in terms of star power, and audiences are already familiar with just hearing Reynolds' voice thanks to his role as Deadpool.
