Rally to preserve Net Neutrality

Rally to preserve Net Neutrality

These "Net Neutrality" rules prevent your internet provider from slowing down your connection to specific websites or services like streaming movies. Without some unexpected change, the principle of an equal internet is likely in its final days.

So, what is net neutrality and why are people so worked up about it? Even in an intensely divided political climate, those in the United States across party lines support undiscriminated internet access.

This is not the first time issues related to net neutrality have arisen. The August study by researcher Emprata found that among the sliver of comments that were unique, non-form letters, more (1.77 million) were against the repeal than for the repeal (24,000).

Net neutrality already distinguishes between broadband service (what you and I have in our homes) and nonbroadband service, to allow for medical services to operate at necessarily faster speeds. If you have to rely on e-commerce, which numerous studies show businesses increasingly are, it's hard to sell your product when your website speed is throttled down.

"IA and its members will continue our fight to preserve the 2015 Order and its strong, enforceable net neutrality protections". Internet service providers such as Comcast and Verizon are the sole supporters of this bill, and they are the only businesses this bill would benefit.

Pai wanted to slow down the FCC back when he was in the minority and he opposed the direction in which the commission was headed.

Those who support the rule predict exactly the opposite will happen. Many people only have one option to access the internet.

Americans are fed up with having their voice in government ignored.

While disheartening, this is far from surprising.

Pai's proposal will not reduce the regulation of the Obama administration over internet service providers (ISPs) and broadband providers. The future of the internet and free information is now being sold to the highest bidder.
