Prince Charles bestows Ed Sheeran with MBE award at Buckingham Palace

Ed Sheehan BREAKS Royal protocol by doing THIS to Prince Charles

Ed Sheeran is pretty hot right now and his 2017 is set to end on a high after getting awarded an MBE at Buckingham Palace today for his services to music.

Sheeran was named in Queen Elizabeth II's birthday honours list in June a year ago (16) but waited until now to pick up his medal at an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace in London.

An MBE is given for an outstanding achievement or service to the community, which has had a long-term, significant impact and stand out as an example to others.

When he chatted with Prince Charles at the ceremony, the heir to the throne was apparently surprised that Sheeran was going to be leaving London for the States quite quickly after the big event.

The MBE has a lot of personal meaning for Sheeran, too: His late grandfather, Bill, was a "massive royalist" - i.e. a massive fan of the Royal family - and this MBE would be a huge deal to him, who passed away in 2013.

"I think talent is like 30 percent of it and persistence, drive and self-belief are the other ones, which I guess are all the same thing", he noted.

Double Grammy victor Ed, from Suffolk, remained modest about his achievements saying he didn't have "vast talent" compared to other artists but his "persistence, drive and self belief" had paid off.
