Olaf's Frozen Adventure, which clocks in at about 22 minutes long, was initially slated as an ABC special, but when those plans didn't work out, Disney chose to pop the "short" in after the trailers that run before Coco. The 21-minute film is a spinoff from the 2013 hit Frozen, focusing on the titular snowman. The short will leave theaters after Thursday. The studio told Entertainment Weekly that it always advertised "Olaf's Frozen Adventure" as a limited run, destined to end on December 8 no matter what.

While some sites linked the end of Olaf's run to the backlash, Entertainment Weekly reports that the short was always meant to have a limited run. Cinemas will thus be able to programme an extra screening of Coco each day as a effect. The end of our Olaf theatrical play is coming next week.

Disney and Pixar's Coco continued to make magic in its second weekend, grossing a strong $26.1 million from 3,987 theaters for a 10-day North American total of $108.7 million and $280 million globally. "All our ads and messaging called it as such". Between the previews and the short, the actual film didn't actually start until 40 minutes after the scheduled showtime.

Coco co-director Adrian Molina confessed that the short was "a bit of an experiment" saying: 'It is longer than, I think, any other short that has ever been attached to one of these films, so I've heard that that has taken people by surprise'. "We've always, even at the conception, liked this idea that these are two stories about family traditions, and understanding what your family traditions are".
