Marlins Want Wacha, Martinez From Cardinals In Stanton Deal

Miami Marlins’ Giancarlo Stanton reacts after he flies out during the ninth inning of a baseball game against the Philadelphia Phillies in Miami. Giants general manager Bobby Evans confirmed on San Francisco

Back in the middle of November, Jon Morosi tweeted that teams told the Marlins that Stanton's contract is what he would receive on the open market. It only makes sense that he'd want to go to a victor.

The Miami Marlins are looking to trade star player Giancarlo Stanton as they begin the rebuilding process.

General manager Bobby Evans (speaking on KNBR 680) said the Giants and Miami Marlins have agreed on the framework of a deal that would send Stanton and the $295 million sticker on his carry-on bag to The Thing On King, which means that both teams have put the public onus on Stanton if this deal doesn't happen. Stanton is from Sherman Oaks, grew up a Dodger fan and also owns a home in the Hollywood Hills. By all appearances, the Marlins are willing to take a less-than-premium return in terms of young talent in order to offload the vast majority of that remaining obligation. That's still the case even if the rival Giants land Stanton (and Shohei Ohtani, for that matter). Nearly all of them have revolved around the Giants, Cardinals, and Dodgers and the likelihood of each team acquiring the Miami slugger. Eric Stephen of True Blue L.A. did a great job of breaking down the Dodgers' current straits on this front.

United Kingdom authorities say they've foiled plot to assassinate Theresa May
Two men are due in court on terror charges on Wednesday after reportedly plotting to assassinate the Prime Minister. However, the news made the headlines after the security officials released a report on the issue.

Pavolvic aslo notes that the Giants view the Dodgers as their biggest threat to the trade for the National League MVP, not the Cardinals, who have been pursuing Stanton as well. They'll need to trade Stanton to achieve that, as his contract runs through the 2028 season. However, the feeling is that he will probably approve the deal.

Todd Frazier would make a lot of sense for the Mets at third, especially since David Wright is not someone they can rely on any longer.
