US participation at Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang 'an open question'

Vonn told CNN on Thursday that she wouldn't accept a visit to the White House, and will not be representing Trump when she competes this winter in Pyeongchang.

VONN: Absolutely not. No.

The alpine skier, who long dominated her sport outside of the marquee quadrennial event, boasts just two Olympic medals, winning a gold in the downhill and a bronze in the Super-G at the 2010 Vancouver games. At that point, Vonn paused: "No, actually, I think every USA team member is invited".

Vonn, who was off seven months in 2017 due to an arm injury, began her lead-up to the Pyeongchang Games early last month. "And I want to represent our country well and I don't think there are a lot of people now in our government who do that". "I don't think that there are a lot of people now in our government that do that". "So no, I won't go". It will be her comments about not accepting a potential invitation to the White House that will be more likely to strike a nerve, however, and our nation's Tweeter In Chief will surely be chiming in on this interview at any given moment.

The Golden State Warriors notably skipped their White House trip as National Basketball Association champions earlier this year after Trump withdrew his invitation to star Stephen Curry, who had previously announced he didn't want to go.
