Facebook Messenger's Instant Games adds support for live stream, video chatting

Facebook adds support for live streaming and video chats to Messenger games

Besides, the company also launched 20 new titles. "To the people who continue to enjoy, share, compete and challenge themselves and their friends to games on Messenger, thanks for playing and game on".

After launching the Instant Games feature within Facebook Messenger last November, the social giant is integrating livestreaming into that product - bringing Facebook roughly into competition with other "Let's Play" platforms like YouTube and Twitch.

To mark its one-year anniversary, Facebook is also debuting a couple of new features for its Instant Games: live streaming and video chat.

Facebook Messenger games were launched a year ago. With the expansion of the platform to over 70 games from more than 100 developers worldwide and today's new features, Facebook is hoping to encourage even more Messenger users to spend time playing games with their friends. To start the video users can press the "Start Live Video" button. Once players are finished streaming, the stream will then be published to your page or profile - although Facebook says that you can remove the post if you want to. Just like any post the video can be deleted at any time.

"I absolutely believe that the streaming community, the influencer community, will have the opportunity to see this as something they want to pick up on", Facebook's global director of games partnerships, Leo Olebe, told Venturebeat.
