Hundreds of firefighters battle dynamic brush fire in Southern California

Several People Are Reportedly Trapped After as 1000-Acre Brush Fire Scorches Angeles National Forest

According to reports, the 50-acre Skirball Fire was first reported at about early Wednesday morning on the east side of the northbound lanes across the freeway from Skirball Center Drive.

No fatalities were reported but three firefighters were injured Tuesday in their battle against the Creek Fire, which was zero percent contained Tuesday night.

About 100 officers from the Los Angeles Police Department were sent to the neighborhood to handle evacuation orders, said LAPD Chief Charlie Beck. Padilla said she and her family were able to get out of her home just in time but were not able to take their horses with them as they had to evacuate immediately when they were awakened Tuesday morning. Santa Ana winds and low humidity are making the firefight hard.

Meanwhile, the Creek Fire, which broke out near Sylmar and Lakeview Terrace in Los Angeles - was estimated to have grown to at least 11,377 acres.
