But she got the last word

But after getting one this week, she decided she'd had enough.

"You need to be fired for the race-baiting comment you made tonight, It's o.k.to discuss certain subjects, but not whites ..." You are what I call a n--r not a black person. "You are a racist N--r. you are what's wrong with the world", Rae wrote in the email. "You what's wrong with the world".

Reed chose to first display the content of the email on the big screen before she had a chance to react to it. "That said, if you're going to write me using that word, I don't think it's appropriate for me to censor it for viewers. I didn't say that white people couldn't talk about race", Reed said, responding directly to Rae.

An Atlanta news anchor confronted a viewer who called her the "n-word" during Tuesday's coverage of the mayor's race.

"We do try to keep it real here", she added.

Conversations surrounding the city's mayoral race between Democrat Keisha Bottoms and Independent Mary Norwood have been drenched in racial tension. Bottoms is black and Norwood is white. "And it's one that has clearly entered the Atlanta mayor's race".

Reed told Atlanta Black Star it was timing that led her to respond the way she did - right then and there during election night. We're talking race. She used it multiple times. I get it. On Dec. 5, 2017, you think it's OK to call this journalist a nigger. But instead, I will let your words Kathy Rae speak for themselves.

National Hockey League gives Seattle the green light to submit an application for expansion
The NHL was specific in pointing out that Seattle is likely an expansion team, not a relocation like some had speculated. When the sale is finalized and the league has approved the deal, Dundon would take control of all team operations.

Atlanta news anchor Sharon Reed made it very clear on Tuesday evening: watch what you say to her. NBC10 hired Reed in December 1999, where she worked the station's evening newscasts up until 2002.

Being a black and brown journalist is a tough job, especially now.

"Do I care to shine a spotlight on a racist? That said, there's too many people getting too comfortable that we're postracial", she says.

She did email the viewer back and said thanked her for "making the show".

Kathie Rae emailed back, taking issue with Reed's implying she was stupid.

Comments regarding Reed's words were mostly positive, with folks saying the anchor "owned" the email writer and that Reed was "brilliant" in her response.

"I don't have to have an army of supporters". "To me, it was an easy decision".
