How Wike Amaechi turned traffic altercation to power play for control of Rivers

The SARS personnel attached to the Minister if Transportation Rotimi Amaechi Has reportedly Attacked Governor Ezenwo Wike's convoy in Rivers State.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Simeon Nwakaudu, the governor said he was on project inspection when he was attacked at Nwanja Junction on Trans-Amadi Road, Port Harcourt.

The minister's media office said the incident which occurred along Trans-Amadi Road, Nwaja axis involved cars of many of Amaechi's supporters while the Minister's black jeep was intercepted and blocked at the junction by the security motorcycle outrider attached to Wike after two cars had passed through.

"Prince Princewill also asked why the attempt by Amaechi, who was driving the auto, to navigate his vehicle out of danger was prevented by two security men from Rivers governor's convoy, who pulled their pistols to shoot him, but when Wike's security men realised that the vehicle that the minister was driving was bullet-proofed, they resorted to hitting the jeep with the butts of their guns and in the process broke the right driving mirror and attempted to break Amaechi's windscreen".

Nwakaudu added that one of Amaechi's aide-de-camp identified as Debewari supervised the alleged attack "which included damage of cameras held by journalists".

Wike, according to the statement, was not hurt, as he continued with his inspection of the road project after the incident.

It reiterated that Wike's main desire was to truncate Nigeria's hard-earned democracy, after the failed plot by the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to win the 2015 presidential election, stressing that the Rivers governor's disdain for President Muhammadu Buhari, APC and Amaechi was legendary.

Mr. Wike was unhurt, the statement said.

"The minister eventually passed through after the intervention of the security team on the ground to protect him in Port Harcourt". Suddenly, gun-toting security men attached to Wike's convoy surrounded the Minister's auto, threatening to shoot him. All through this attack, Amaechi remained calm inside the fortified vehicle. They hit the auto, tried to smash the windscreens, back and side windows and broke a side mirror. Chibuike Amaechi, yesterday, took their battle for supremacy to the street of Port Harcourt, the state capital.

On the Global Human Settlements Outstanding Contribution Award " by the Sustainable Cities and Human Settlements Awards (SCAHSA), Wike said that the Former Minister of Environment, Amina Mohammed worked for the APC federal government to scuttle the honour.

"We are also calling on the International Community to take note of these chain of activity that is carefully planned by the (APC) and being executed by the Minister of Transport".

According to the statement, the Minister narrowly escaped being shot by security men attached to Wike.

Both Wike and Amaechi had claimed it was an attempt at assassinating them.
