The Bank of England warns if you still have any old £10 notes with Charles Darwin, better spend them before 1 March next year, otherwise, it'll transform into the souvenir. Around 55 per cent of the £10 notes in current circulation are made from polymer, while the rest - 359 million - are paper.

The Bank introduced the paper £10 note featuring Charles Darwin in 2000, and it rolled out the new Jane Austen notes in September.

The note also includes a quote from her famous work, Pride and Prejudice, which says: "I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading". New five (you can see the portrait of Winston Churchill on it) is the new variation of the banknote, also shows the higher level of durability, it is also cleaner than old-fashioned paper notes.

They also have an inscription in raised dots that helps blind and partially-sighted users to identify them.

It will stop being legal tender then, but you will still be able to exchange them at the bank, after the cut-off date.

The new bank notes follows suit of the old style £5 which went out of circulation in May, and the old £1 coin which is no longer legal tender.

The Bank of England argues that these notes are much harder to counterfeit and last longer than paper notes.

However, the new notes have drawn criticism from vegans and religious groups across England and Wales for containing traces of tallow, an animal by-product of beef or mutton fat.
